Interested in Long Haul Trucking Jobs or The Short Haul Variety?

It is a fact that more and more people are looking into a truck driving career with the economy like it is. However, this is not a bad thing. With good pay and better benefits trucking companies are providing solid careers for many truckers.

Long haul truckers can spend months out on the highways moving goods across the country. Shipping companies work year around and move goods from boats, trains, and planes all the way to you local store and even living room.

A good example of a seasonal trucker would be an ice road trucker. For only two months of the year the ice near the arctic circle becomes home to the select few truckers to brave the harsh conditions.

Coal truckers move coal year around as miners harvest the coal. There are also many jobs for rock truckers and other movers. You sure can’t forget movers and shipping companies.

Short haul trucking companies delivery goods in a limited area but sometimes might have to delivery further than expected. Some truckers may have a route that they take everyday such as a trip from Birmingham to Atlanta back to Birmingham.

Local drivers may have a daily a weekly route even a monthly route they take. Independent owner operators usually own their own rigs and contract hauling jobs.

It takes a strong mind and different kind of spirit to be a long haul trucker. Long haul trucking jobs are tough and require skill and discipline and a good sense safety. The pay off might be making more money but missing home can bring the strongest to their knees.

So, if you are looking for the long haul or want to be a short haul trucker, the road can be a great place to start a long career. If you need a new career, don’t be afraid. Take a look at what truck driving has to offer, whether long or short haul driving. With the proper training, almost anyone can make a career out of trucking. Happy hauling!

Five Inventive Ways To Find A Job

Ok, you have posted to each net job board and each job on Monster, CareerBuilder, and HotJobs. You have followed up with calls and networked till you are blue in the face.

Each Sun. You take the paper and make an application for each job in your field with small to no results. Write a great cover letter on why you are a tight fit, pointing to the enclosed resume. Don’t seal the envelope and don’t enclose a resume. They can believe the resume dropped out in the post. They may call and become involved in a dialogue.

Sell yourself shamelessly. Find 5-10companies. Write up a letter to your contact network and ask them if they know anyone that works at any of the firms on your list. When a contact says they know somebody on your list, send them your resume and ask them to forward it their contact or ask authorization to send it yourself.

Ask them to make contact with you if they do, so you can try for a referral. Ultimately , ask them to forward your email to ten more folks. However don’t do this if you’re now employed! Distribute A Flyer Write a leaflet with information topical to your industry and give it away. Give the leaflet away electronically and publicize it to newsgroups where hiring chiefs will see it.

Call Human Resources Sounds funny, right? Call the human resources dep.. Ask them what outside agency or third-party recruiting firm they use. They’re going to ask you why are you wanting to know. They may ask you for an interview. If not at least you do get a lead. They might like to save the agency fees. Also being advocated gives you special attention.

Send them a thanks note. These are terrorist methods that may supply you with better results.
